East Specialised Foundation Programme
The East in conjunction with the University of Dundee and NHS Tayside offer 6 posts (E07) within the two year Specialised Foundation Programme (SFP). The F1 year is a generic clinical Foundation year which allows newly qualified doctors to gain experience in a range of clinical posts with the F2 year focusing on academic elements alongside additional clinical experiences.
The primary objective of this programme, as for all other Foundation Programmes, is to ensure satisfactory clinical training through the attainment of Foundation competencies (as defined by the Foundation Curriculum and demonstrated through successful completion of the Foundation ePortfolio (Turas)).
The East SFP is a two-year fixed programme.

What the Programme Offers
The Specialised Programme offers one dedicated 4 month block in F2 when the trainees work solely on their chosen project. The area of this project and the department in which it is to be based will be agreed in discussion with your FPD. Trainees will be expected to complete all core clinical skills required by Foundation doctors in addition to completing academic competencies.
A mentor will be appointed to each SFP trainee to offer support and guidance throughout their Academic Programme. A series of tutorials, workshops and practical skill sessions will be provided throughout the programme, supplemented with individual mentorship from an academic supervisor.
With the support of both the University of Dundee and NHS Tayside our programmes provide foundation doctors with the opportunity to develop research, teaching and leadership/management skills in addition to the current basic competencies outlined in the curriculum.
They are intended to be beneficial to both trainees who plan to go into academic medicine as well as those who choose a different medical career. Specific areas covered will include:
