Borders training programme
The Borders and Midlothian GP Speciality Training Programme is based in the South-East of Scotland, with practices covering a wide rural and suburban geographical area from Coldstream and Melrose to Penicuik and Dalkeith, with a couple of practices in East Lothian. The mix of urban/rural life with easy access to plenty of outdoor pursuits – including renowned mountain biking at Innerleithen or Glentress and a great range of hiking trails in Southern Uplands is of particular appeal.
Many of the hospital posts for this scheme are based in the Borders General Hospital, a modern hospital situated in Melrose providing broad range of secondary care specialities including Medicine, Geriatrics, Orthopaedics Trauma, Psychiatry, Paediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Some hospital posts might also be located at Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary, South side of Edinburgh or in Midlothian. Out of hours is usually based at Borders Emergency Care Service (BECS) based out of the Borders General Hospital (Melrose).
