Glasgow Clyde training programme

The Glasgow Clyde GP Speciality Training Programme is administered as 2 districts, North and
South, allowing trainees the opportunity to train in a wide variety of hospitals and local communities.
Clyde North extends from Dumbarton to Helensburgh with a small number of practices. Clyde South
is larger and covers an area extending from Barrhead and Paisley to the more rural areas of Bridge
of Weir and Largs. Glasgow Clyde has a variety of large and small practices. The area covers urban
and semirural populations which have a spectrum of deprived and affluent populations. There is also
a link with GP training at Faslane Naval Base.

The Glasgow Clyde trainees will have experience in a variety of hospitals. The Royal Alexandra
Hospital in Paisley and Inverclyde Royal Infirmary in Greenock are the base of most hospital-based
placements. However, trainees also rotate to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow,
Vale of Leven in Alexandria and Mid Argyll Community Hospital in Lochgilphead.

Out of Hours GP training experience is undertaken with Greater Glasgow and Clyde (GGC) Out of
Hours Service and shifts can be undertaken locally in Clyde or in the Glasgow area if preferred.

The Glasgow Clyde programme offers a high-quality GP training environment. The area is situated
close to Glasgow and extends north to Loch Lomond and beyond and south to the coast at Largs
offering a variety of environments to work, live and enjoy.
