Main duties of placement:
  • Responsible for the day to day care of ward and medical inpatients.
  • Attending daily ward rounds.
  • Member of cardiac arrest team.
  • Rotate through Acute Medical Receiving.
Typical work pattern:
  • Day, late and night shifts.
  • Cross cover for Medical Assessment Unit.
  • Hospital at night team on site.
Learning opportunities:
  • Hospital and department induction.
  • Dedicated, protected weekly foundation teaching.
  • Weekly journal club, grand rounds and lunchtime meetings as part of hospital CME programme.
  • Ample opportunity to undertake audit with presentation at audit and research evenings.
Teaching:

Mandatory bleep-free F1 teaching 1 or 2 hrs each week (lunchtime Tuesday and/or Thursday) and opportunity to attend general teaching on a Friday AM.
