| Main duties of placement: | Care of a wide range of medical conditions within an HDU/CCU setting. Treatment of medical emergencies including acute coronary syndromes, gastro-intestinal bleeding, acute renal failure and diabetic ketoacidosis. |
| Typical work pattern: | Four months spent in HDU/CCU ward with exposure to General Medicine acutely unwell patients. Seven nights spent on H@N cover. Full shifts until 9.30pm with handover at 9pm. Weekend daytime cover 3 times in 4 month block. |

| Teaching: | Mandatory FY1 teaching programme covering the foundation programme syllabus. There are hospital postgraduate meetings at least monthly. Bi-monthly Thursday CMT-led F1 teaching. |
| Unique selling points: | Increase confidence in the management of acutely ill medical patients and exposure to procedures with excellent supervision. |
