Main duties of placement:

Based in A&E with unselected assessment of all comers.

Consultant on-site at all times to go through cases.
Typical work pattern:

9am-5pm week days with two weekends worked in 4 months.

No night working except by agreement.
Learning opportunities:

Wednesday Core Curriculum meeting (1 hour).

Thursday A+E formal teaching (2 hours).
Teaching:

Teaching sessions are mandatory.
Unique selling points:
  • Encouraged to attend local Paediatric Life support course during working hours.
  • Flexibility to work evenings or nights on request and by agreement.
  • The Emergency Room is fully computerised.
