Main duties of placement:
  • Manage patients in ward.
  • Pre-assessment clinics.
  • On-call for emergencies.
  • Attend theatres.
  • Outpatient clinics.
Typical work pattern:
  • Rolling rota, typically between 0800hrs to 0500pm.
  • Rrolling on-call rota over night.
Learning opportunities:

Mainly at trauma meetings, theatres, clinics, ward rounds and organised teaching sessions.
Teaching:

Regular presentation by a senior member of staff (consultants and registrars) every week.

Presentation on a topic every week on Tuesday morning.

Encouraged to attend Urology and General Surgery teaching.
