| Main duties of placement: | Care of neonates in Special Care, Neonatal Intensive care at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow. Routine examination of newborn infants prior to discharge from hospital following their birth. |

| Learning opportunities: | Plentiful; dedicated teaching in addition to active hospital CME programme. Most trainees undertake and present projects during this placement. |
| Teaching: | Mandatory FY2 teaching undertaken by base consortia. Bleep-free teaching each week. Lunchtime CME Monday and Tuesday via telemedicine from Yorkhill and opportunity to attend general paediatric teaching on a Friday morning. |
| Unique selling points: | Very well supervised post which will provide opportunities for presentations and publications to the motivated trainee. Good preparation for a career in paediatrics, GP or critical care. |
