| Main duties of placement: | Management of acutely admitted unselected general medical emergencies. Attendance at general medical clinics. Support of nurse-led services (DVT, chest pain service, etc.). Regular timetabled ward-based and small group teaching of undergraduates. |
| Typical work pattern: | Full shift. |
| Learning opportunities: | Consultant-led ward rounds twice a day; review all general medical admissions. Weekly Medical unit meeting. |
| Teaching: | Over the full year there is the opportunity to deliver regular timetabled teaching to students and participate in a medical education course aiming for a certification which can be used towards a diploma and/or degree. |
