Main Duties of Placement
|
- Morning and evening ward round.
- On-call duties in the evening/weekends/nights.

As part of a team of F1/2s, STs, Nurse Practitioners, Allied Health Professionals and Acute Medical Consultants, responsible for the initial assessment and management of a range of acutely unwell medical patients; responsible for delivering continuing care for patients within the Acute Medical Unit

Typical Work Pattern
|
- Weekday shifts on Ward 1.
- On-call shifts in the evenings/weekends/nights.
- Acute Medical Admissions Unit shifts.

Learning Opportunities
|
- Ward-based teaching.
- Weekly patient presentations.
- Opportunities to develop clinical and non-technical skills: through direct supervision and real-time feedback from Registrars/Consultants; daily “10-minute tutorials” (commended by NES); a weekly lunchtime teaching programme; bed-side clinical skills teaching; mastery of practical procedures via simulation and supervised practice; in-situ scenario simulation; and multidisciplinary Values-Based Reflective Practice sessions (in addition to programmed Foundation School teaching sessions).
