| Main Duties of Placement
|
- Morning daily review of all patients before HDU ward round.
- Present all patients on the ward round.
- Consultant surgeon ward rounds.
- Day to day care of all patients on the unit.
- Ensure timely and appropriate responses to abnormal physiology.

| Typical Work Pattern
|
- 0800 - 1500 2 days a week, 0800 - 1900 2 days a week and then 0800 - 1700 every Friday.
- A few weeks on-call covering acute surgical admissions ward and the assessment bay or nights covering surgical HDU and the surgical floor.

- Daily teaching ward rounds.
- Opportunities to learn practical procedures e.g. how to insert central and arterial lines.
