Main Duties of Placement | The FY2 mainly works alongside the FY1s in managing the ward. Main duties include daily ward rounds and ward tasks such as discharges, bloods, referrals etc. The FY2 does have more opportunity to look after the HDU patients however and is encouraged to attend theatre. |
Typical Work Pattern | Normal shifts are 0800-1630 and on-call shifts at least once per week covering West block inclusive of 23B, 24, 25, 26, 27 and Burns unit. Two sets of nights and three weekends are included in the rota for FY2s. |
Learning Opportunities | Various learning opportunities available if you are willing to lean. These include learning practical procedures and the management of higher level patients. |
Teaching | Teaching occurs on a daily basis in the form of journal club, case presentations, radiology meeting and MDTs. These sessions are interactive and educational. |
