Placement Geriatric Medicine

Main Duties of Placement

During this placement the main duties will comprise ward rounds, acute assessment of new patients in the Geriatric Assessment Unit, and ongoing care of patients on the assessment wards, including participation in multidisciplinary team meetings.

Learning Opportunities

There are plenty of learning opportunities - consultant/SpR ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings, weekly educational meetings in which trainees are expected to contribute, morbidity and mortality meetings, X-ray meetings, and the weekly hospital "grand round".

Teaching

Weekly departmental educational meeting, and also departmental X-Ray meeting.

Weekly hospital "grand round".

Weekly 1 hr teaching programme for FY1.
