Main Duties of Placement | Psychiatric assessment and management of general hospital inpatients who are identified or suspected to have a mental health problem; liaison with other psychiatric services and onward referral if appropriate. Two months spent in general adult liaison psychiatry and two months in old age liaison psychiatry. |
Typical Work Pattern | Normal working hours: Mo – Fri, 9-5. |
Learning Opportunities | Trainees are encouraged to attend, during term time, a weekly case conference and journal club at Royal Cornhill Hospital. They will work closely with other team members and participate in weekly MDT meetings. |
Teaching | Attendance at weekly FY1 teaching sessions. |
Unique Selling Points | The FY1 trainee will work within a small team of experienced psychiatric practitioners (nurses, doctors) who will provide close supervision and teaching. We see a large range of psychiatric problems from the organic to the functional end of the spectrum. |
