Main Duties of Placement

Telephone triage and face to face appointments. Working within the MDT on our 22 bed community hospital as well as assisting in the busy minor injuries department.

Opportunities to assist with minor surgery and family planning clinic (including coil and implant insertion/removal)

Typical Work Pattern

Days are typically 09:00-17:00 with some flexibility for anyone travelling from a distance.

Wednesday is half day to allow attendance at teaching sessions/ project time.

Learning Opportunities

Weekly tutorials, daily feedback and opportunity to debrief with supervising GP. Weekly MDT.

Regular palliative care meetings, child/adult protection meetings.

Teaching

Weekly tutorials, 1/2 day Wednesday for mandatory teaching and protected project time for audit/ quality improvement project.

Unique Selling Points

Fully staffed, friendly, enthusiastic team. Remote and rural experience including fracture management, suturing and stabilisation of medically unwell patients prior to transfer if required.

Brilliant variety of work across community hospital, MIU and GP practice.

Day case procedures eg. blood transfusion, venesection, infusion.

MDT under one roof (Physio, OT, Health visitor, community midwife, community nursing team, radiography, SALT).

Excellent trainee feedback and recent recognition of 3 or more green flags for Foundation: Clinical Supervision, Induction and Team Culture.
