Main Duties of Placement

The department is keen to maximise continuity of consultant teams and ward attachment, as well as patient care. Posts usually involve exposure to several specialities.

Typical Work Pattern

All attachments retain an equal commitment to acute medical receiving on a 1 in 8 basis; allĀ trainees receive largely with their own team. The current rota is a partial shift and includes 2-3 weeks night duty.

Learning Opportunities

A protected weekly lunchtime teaching programme is provided for FY1s and attendance is also encouraged at the hospital X-ray meeting (Wednesday lunchtime) and clinical grand round (Friday lunchtime). All staff are encouraged to participate in the monthly audit programme.
