Placement Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Year F2

Main Duties of Placement

The placement will involve participating in the day to day care of inpatient obstetrics and gynaecological patients, the management of clinical emergencies in obstetrics and gynaecology, assistance with elective and emergency obstetrics and gynaecological surgery and outpatient work. You will be expected to participate in ward rounds, clerking of patients and patient administration, assisting in theatre, outpatient clinics and organising initial investigations.

Typical Work Pattern

Partial shift.

Out of hours cross cover with paediatrics.

Learning Opportunities

The main source of teaching will be at clinics with hands-on experience and case discussion. Other opportunities will be afforded at the hospital morbidity and mortality sessions and through the rolling hospital training programme for junior doctors.

Teaching

No didactic sessions within speciality but clinical teaching afforded at outpatient clinics.

Mandatory attendance at Hospital Foundation Educational programme.
