Placement Ophthalmology

Main Duties of Placement

Attend ward rounds in morning with consultants and trainees. Provide ward cover in morning with facility to attend theatre and outpatients once ward work done. Attend clinic each afternoon to learn ophthalmic clinical skills and see and manage a wide range of eye casualties.

Typical Work Pattern

Mixed specialties rota.

Learning Opportunities

Supervised training in eye clinics and ward rounds. Postgraduate meeting Friday afternoons.

Teaching

1 day per month FY2 teaching. This takes the form of curriculum-based teaching followed by facilitated small group case-based discussions
