Placement General Practice
Year F2

Main Duties of Placement

Daily surgeries, involvement with house visits, phone consultations, sessions with wider primary care team, prescription management.

Typical Work Pattern

Standard 40 hour week with some additional OOH work based in secondary care. There is additional AMIA cover for some weekends.

Learning Opportunities

This will vary practice to practice, but opportunities may include supervised surgeries, shared consulting, practice educational meetings, and integration of supervised learning events.

Teaching

2hr per month generic teaching and 2hr per month small group teaching including facilitated case-based discussions.

Unique Selling Points

Named clinical supervisor while in post who will work closely with the trainee in order to develop General Practice skills. Specific focus is given to communication skills and holistic patient care. Patients may “come through the door” with any clinical problem, in the context of care from the cradle to the grave.
