Placement Obstetrics and Gynaecology / Paediatrics

Main Duties of Placement

Mix of ward work, attendance at outpatient clinics (both within Dr Gray's Hospital and in the community) and occasional commitment to theatre sessions. Oncall duties to include initial assessments in the ED and on the ward and close liaison with consultant oncall.

Typical Work Pattern

Full shift, cross cover between O&G and Paediatrics.

Learning Opportunities

Ward based teaching, departmental teaching (combined) and learning opportunities in both the ED and the OPC.

Teaching

Mandatory F2 teaching every second Friday; covers a range of topics and follows the Foundation Curriculum. This is 30 hours over the course of FY2. The expectation is of 30 hours of private study in F2 in addition, as well as attendance at immersive simulation and ALS.

Unique Selling Points

Working closely with the consultant on call, good exposure to general O&G and Paeds in a very small DGH with unselected take for these areas.
