Main Duties of Placement | The majority of your time is spent supervised in theatre where you are taught to perform practical procedures as well as theoretical knowledge such as physiology and pharmacology. |
Typical Work Pattern | Monday to Friday 8am-5.30pm. You will also receive a rota for your night shifts with HAN where you are largely based on the orthopaedic wards admitting patients. |
Learning Opportunities | There are plenty of learning opportunities in theatre. The FY1 carries a cardiac arrest bleep which serves mainly an educational purpose. You can attend the tutorials held for anaesthetic trainees. There are departmental meetings on Friday afternoons. |
Teaching | You are guaranteed time off for departmental educational meetings on Friday afternoons, as well as FY1 Teaching 1 hour per week. |
Unique Selling Points | The learning opportunities; this job is unique in that the emphasis of the placement is on training as opposed to the normal ward duties of an FY1. |
