Main Duties of Placement | During the 4-month rotation different shifts carry different roles and responsibilities; day shifts on the medical, care of the elderly and observation wards, admitting unselected medical patients on both day and night shifts and 1700 to 2100 hospital covering shifts. Duties:

Typical Work Pattern | Ward shifts 0900-1700, or late shift 0900-2100. Admitting shifts 0800-1800 or 1100-2200. Night shifts 2100-0900. Weekend shifts every 3 to 4 weeks. |
Learning Opportunities | Multi-disciplinary medical unit meeting every Tuesday incorporating a monthly X–Ray meeting. FY1 teaching every Wednesday. Opportunistic learning on ward rounds by Consultants each from a different specialty, Specialist Registrars, Pharmacists etc. |
Teaching | As above plus mandatory FY1 teaching by SJH Wednesday lunchtime. |
