Main Duties of Placement | Ward rounds. Admitting patients. Reviewing unwell patients. |
Typical Work Pattern | Either admitting 09:00-17:00 or admitting 09:00-21:30. Wards 09:00-17:00 or 09:00-21:00. |
Learning Opportunities | Exposure to a very wide variety of medical conditions from acute emergencies to complex chronic conditions. Plenty of opportunities to learn from enthusiastic consultants and registrars. |
Teaching | Mandatory FY2 teaching for 1 hour once per week. Grand rounds once per week. X-ray meeting once per week. |
Unique Selling Points | Great exposure to and experience of medicine. Left to own devices, but also senior support readily available when required. Work very closely to consultants so good for learning. Great deal of opportunities to learn to perform practical procedures which you would not be able to do working in a large teaching hospital. |
