Main Duties of Placement | This post is primarily based on Hermitage Ward at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital. There are 2 sessions per week in the community, doing supervised clinics with the Consultant in Midlothian.

Typical Work Pattern | Monday-Friday 9am-5pm plus long days (to 9pm) and blocks of night and weekend duties.All on call work is within psychiatric services. Community clinics are within 30 minutes travel time of REH, and travel expenses can be claimed. |
Learning Opportunities | You will be part of the MDT in 2 ward rounds per week, which include dedicated learning time for students and trainees. In the first month, you will observein OP clinics, before taking on your own patients (either multidisciplinary assessments or with consultant discussion time after seeing patients) as part of a small caseload. There are opportunities to develop teaching, audit and quality improvement skills. |
Teaching | Weekly Foundation Teaching Programme in Psychiatry, Balint Group and drop in sessions which take place at the REH. Monthly regional FY2 teaching programmewhich takes place at the Western General Hospital |
