Main Duties of Placement | Twice daily ward rounds. Ward-based jobs. Opportunity to help in theatre. Clerking new elective admissions. Experience of working in both cardiac and thoracic surgery. |

Learning Opportunities | Weekly FY teaching and case presentations. Opportunity to attend theatre and outpatient clinics. Opportunity to improve interpretation of radiological imaging. Experience in managing post-operative cardiac patients. Department M&M meetings. |
Teaching | Monthly generic hospital FY2 teaching (3 hours). Weekly department FY teaching. |
Unique Selling Points | Opportunity to improve on radiological interpretation. Opportunity to attend theatre if interested in surgery. Working as part of a small team in a highly specialised area. Opportunity to develop practical procedures such as chest drain insertion and understand cardiac surgery and managing patients in the immediate post-operative period. Work as a part of a multiprofessional team including FY1 doctors, and ANPs. |
