| Main Duties of Placement | Immediate assessment of patients in unscheduled care (obsteric and gynae triage departments). Labour ward long shifts (ward round, assisting with C-sections/instrumental deliveries, ward jobs). Ward trainee on antenatal/postnatal/gynae wards. Outpatient clinics including antenatal, gynae, reproductive endocrinology, (optional) TOP. |
| Typical Work Pattern | Labour ward/nights/weekends 12.5 hour shift. Triage 10.30-18.30 (approximately twice a week). Clinic/ward 8.30-16.30. Set of nights at SJH 1-2 times during a 4 month placement. |
| Learning Opportunities | Well supervised with good senior support. Good learning opportunities in clinic and ward settings. |
| Teaching | Weekly departmental SHO teaching. Weekly hospital FY2 teaching. Frequent departmental meetings (e.g. perinatal morbidity, CTG meetings etc.) |
