Placement Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery

Main Duties of Placement

Ward rounds and jobs that they generate. 

Morning trauma meetings.

Outpatient clinics.

Theatre.

Typical Work Pattern

The rota is pretty generous with some hard weeks followed by lots of time off; a good mix. Typical day is 8-5. Long days are 8am-8.30pm. Admitting shifts are 9am-9.30pm.

Learning Opportunities

Ward-based teaching sometimes.

Teaching

Lunchtime teaching from STs. Also an opportunity to give your own presentations to peers and seniors.

Unique Selling Points

Working on the wards and getting to see and treat some potentially sick older patients.
