Learning Opportunities | Formal weekly hospital teaching session for FY1 doctors. Weekly departmental meetings with opportunities to present. Multidisciplinary meetings. Regular mortality meetings. Grand rounds each Wednesday. Wide access to internet and therefore e-learning. Demanding post with many opportunities to learn during clinical care. |
Teaching | Formal weekly FY1 teaching programme Thursdays 12:30 to 13:30 at Postgraduate Centre. Opportunities for informal teaching and to develop teaching skills. |
Unique Selling Points | Busy city teaching hospital serving north & east Glasgow with intake of a wide spectrum of cases including tertiary referrals for various medical specialties. All trainees are closely supervised. Emergency receiving is consultant-led, with senior trainees on overnight and actively involved in patient care. Daily ward rounds led by consultants and experienced middle grade staff. Opportunities to participate in audit. |
