| Main Duties of Placement | Care of adults within the general medical setting, based on a single ward with a team for 8 weeks. This involves assessment and review of patients, ordering investigations and working with members of the MDT in patient care. It also involves liaising with other specialties. There is a rotational commitment to the acute receiving and HAN. |
| Typical Work Pattern | Partial shift with time spent in acute wards and acute receiving. HAN. |
| Learning Opportunities | There are weekly departmental CPD where you will learn about our specialty. This includes M and M meetings. There are weekly Grand Rounds open to the whole hospital showcasing different specialties each week. There are numerous learning opportunities on the wards, both with acutely unwell patients and also in the management of longer term conditions and ethical issues with a focus on patient-centric care. Our more senior trainees and Consultants are all very keen to teach so there is a lot of informal teaching and discussion on ward rounds. |
| Teaching | Within the Department of Geriatric medicine we have weekly trainee teaching. The QEUH also provides weekly FY1 teaching. |
