Main Duties of Placement
|
-
You will rotate through a combination of AMRU, CCU, Stroke Unit and general medical wards with subspecialities of respiratory, diabetes & endocrinology, gastroenterology, cardiology.

You will be ward-based and gain experience in the management of patients under your care.
-
Duties include participation in ward rounds, organising relevant investigations, making appropriate referrals and discharge planning and communicating with relatives and GPs.

You will be part of the cardiac arrest team when on call.
- Acute assessment of medical emergency admissions during receiving blocks.

You are expected to attend teaching sessions with 2 hours of protected teaching per week as noted below.

Teaching

Informal on ward rounds and at MDT meetings.

Dedicated FY1 teaching on Tuesday lunchtime (Protected teaching time).

Postgraduate Medical Education meetings on Wednesday lunchtime (Protected teaching time).

Weekly Departmental meetings (for case presentations, audit, journal club, mortality & morbidity, specialty quiz) on Thursday lunch time for General medicine and Friday lunch time for Care of the Elderly.
