Main Duties of Placement | Day shifts, long days, weekends and taster nights. FY1s also cover ‘virtual’ ward patients – these are patients at home who are awaiting scans, procedures, results etc |
Typical Work Pattern | Review new admissions and assessment of patients requiring early intervention. Carrying out tasks for ongoing patient care. Being part of the post-take ward rounds. |
Learning Opportunities | Well supported role, highly motivated team and plenty of opportunities for Workplace Based Assessments. |
Teaching | Robust Foundation Teaching programme in NHSL and Foundation doctors have protected time on rota to attend this. |
Unique Selling Points | Core part of acute medical team, i.e. not rotational into other non-acute areas. This will help enhance sense of belonging and wellbeing. |
