Placement Acute Medicine - Acute, Ambulatory and Virtual Care
Year F1

Hospital(s) University Hospital Wishaw
Main Duties of Placement

Day shifts, long days, weekends and taster nights. FY1s also cover ‘virtual’ ward patients – these are patients at home who are awaiting scans, procedures, results etc

Typical Work Pattern

Review new admissions and assessment of patients requiring early intervention.

Carrying out tasks for ongoing patient care.

Being part of the post-take ward rounds.

Learning Opportunities

Well supported role, highly motivated team and plenty of opportunities for Workplace Based Assessments.

Teaching

Robust Foundation Teaching programme in NHSL and Foundation doctors have protected time on rota to attend this.

Unique Selling Points

Core part of acute medical team, i.e. not rotational into other non-acute areas.
