Main Duties of Placement | Care of inpatients in Specialist Palliative Care Unit and ward reviews of patients in hospital referred to palliative care team. Ward reviews, outpatient clinics and outpatient “urgent” referrals from other specialties (eg) oncology / heart failure. One day per week (averaged) will be spent with the haematology team

Typical Work Pattern | 9am -5pm Monday to Friday (one day will be in haematology). 1 in 5 weekends 9am – 6pm covering Palliative Care Unit and hospital referrals with consultant 2nd on and able to come in for face to face reviews. |
Learning Opportunities | Inpatient specialist palliative care. Ward reviews and outpatient clinics and outpatient “urgent” referrals from other specialties (eg) oncology / heart failure. Placement will include time with community specialist palliative care nursing and medical teams. |
Teaching | All DGRI based teaching programmes plus departmental weekly sessions. |
