Main Duties of Placement | Acute medical receiving, regular ward rounds, continuing inpatient care of cardiology patients. Exposure to outpatient clinics in general cardiology and outpatient-based cardiology investigations such as exercise testing, tilt table tests and exercise thallium scans. |
Typical Work Pattern | Full shift, early or late and hospital at night team. |
Learning Opportunities | Ward-based Cardiology teaching and weekly hospital grand rounds. Weekly formal Departmental teaching session. Opportunities to gain practical skills including central line access, also exposure to echocardiography and temporary pacing lines. |
Teaching | Mandatory FY2 teaching one full day per 4-month block. Opportunities to be taught and to provide teaching for medical undergraduates. |
