| Main Duties of Placement | Acute medical receiving. Regular ward rounds. Continuing inpatient care and respiratory day patients. Exposure to outpatient clinics in general respiratory, difficult asthma, tuberculosis, interstitial pulmonary disease, lung cancer and in general medicine. |
| Typical Work Pattern | Full shift, early or late, and Hospital at Night team. |
| Learning Opportunities | Ward-based teaching. Weekly unit educational meeting and unit pathology/radiology meeting. Weekly hospital grand rounds and opportunities to attend specialty clinics and bronchoscopy sessions. Opportunities to hone skills in pleural procedures including US-guided pleural aspiration and chest drain insertion and also refine skills in the application of NIV. |
| Teaching | Mandatory FY2 teaching one full day per four month block. Opportunities to be taught and to provide teaching for medical and dental undergraduates. |
