| Main Duties of Placement | Initial assessment, management/resuscitation, investigation and onward referral or discharge of the wide range of adult and paediatric patients presenting to an Emergency Department. Reception, resuscitation, diagnosis and treatment of emergencies. Appropriate referral of patients to hospital beds, regional specialties, outpatient clinics, or back to the community. The assessment of minor injuries, performing wound care, manipulation of fractures and dislocations in the ED. |
| Typical Work Pattern | Full shift pattern including out of hours working and nightshifts. Staff will rotate between the departments at Royal Alexandra Hospital and Inverclyde Royal Hospital. |
| Learning Opportunities | Two day induction programme followed by weekly Thursday afternoon protected teaching sessions. Extended consultant shop floor cover providing excellent learning opportunities. Varied learning opportunites for G1 projects, audits and undergraduate teaching. |
