Main Duties of Placement | Ward-based clinical cover. |
Typical Work Pattern | In 4 month block, you are placed with your designated team approximately half the time. The rest of your placement consists of weeks covering HDU, or on call (weeks of day cover, split weeks of night cover). |
Learning Opportunities | Ward-based teaching. FY teaching programme. Journal club organised by seniors. Weekly specialty based MDTs. Morbidity and Mortality meetings. |
Teaching | Mandatory teaching as part of the foundation programme syllabus. There are also additional hospital meetings. |
Unique Selling Points | Busy district general hospital with colorectal, upper GI, breast and urology specialities. Team-based but rotate around different shift patterns so a wide range of specialties encountered. |
