This is an example of the role and responsibilities of an FY2; however this list is not exhaustive.

• Working as part of the Hospice Multidisciplinary Team in all aspects of the delivery of Specialist Palliative Care
• Participation in the Daily Referral Meeting
• Coordination of patient Admission, Transfer and Discharge processes
• Case-based discussions with consultant colleagues following each admission
• Safe prescribing as per Hospice Policy and professional guidelines
• Documentation of holistic overview of patient presentation, assessment and decision-making processes as per Hospice protocols and professional guidelines
• Analysis of blood and specimen results to support clinical decision making
• Preparation of and participation in the Daily Ward Round and Weekly Grand Ward Round
• Timely provision of medical letters/correspondence, Immediate Discharge Letters and Medical Certification of Cause of Death
• Coordination of late afternoon/early evening medical review walk rounds
• Phlebotomy / Cannulation
• Liaison with external professionals (Radiology/Oncology/Respiratory)
• Coordination of Family Meetings & Updates
• Preparation of and participation in the Hospice MDT education programme
• Preparation of and participation in the Weekly MDT Journal Club
• Coordination and support of the Hospice Medical Student and Professional Visitor Programme

• Seminars and Webinars specific to palliative care
• Regional and national conferences
• Hospice MDT Education Programme
• MDT Journal Club
• Case Based Discussions
• DOPS specific to Specialist Palliative Care

The Hospice has served the populations of Glasgow City, East and West Dunbartonshire since 1950.  It is situated on a bus route and is served by close rail connections via Yoker Train Station (across the street).
