| Main Duties of Placement | Appropriate supervision will be provided for all duties: Assessing medical admissions, and constructing and enacting management plans. Continuity ward rounds will also be a part of the role. Taking part in “arrest team”. Discharge summary preparation. Four hours per fortnight will be provided for developmental work, which may include QI – work to be confirmed with supervisor. |
| Typical Work Pattern | Four days per week (8am-4pm) in Medical Assessment Unit or Acute Medical Receiving Unit. One day per week in medical ward of choice (Choose one of the following before commencing post: Renal, Infectious Diseases, Endocrinology, General Medicine, Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, COTE or option to experience a variety). Also, contribute to our of hours rota - ward and/or medical admissions (will include evenings, weekends and nights). |

| Unique Selling Points | Majority of work is within Acute Medicine, but with an opportunity to work in another medical area of the successful candidate’s choice. Self-development time, which may be used for e.g. QI project, is incorporated into the successful candidate’s role. Nearby train station (Coatdyke), on trainline between Glasgow and Edinburgh. Opportunity to become involved in planning a new replacement acute hospital (the only one currently planned in Scotland), if the successful candidate demonstrates interest. Access to an annually run QI competition. Four hours per fortnight of self-development time will be incorporated into the rota. |
