Placement General (Internal) Medicine

Hospital(s) Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary
Main Duties of Placement

Responsible for the day to day care of ward and medical inpatients.

Attending daily ward rounds.

Member of cardiac arrest team.

Rotate through Acute Medical Receiving.

Typical Work Pattern

Day, late and night shifts.

Cross cover for Medical Assessment Unit.

Hospital at night team on site.

Learning Opportunities

Hospital and department induction.

Dedicated, protected weekly foundation teaching.

Weekly journal club, grand rounds and lunchtime meetings as part of hospital CME programme.

Ample opportunity to undertake audit with presentation at audit and research evenings.

Teaching

Mandatory bleep-free FY1 teaching 1 or 2 hrs each week (lunchtime Tuesday and/or Thursday) and opportunity to attend general teaching on a Friday AM.
