Placement Cardiology
Year F2
Region West
Hospital(s) Glasgow Royal Infirmary
Main Duties of Placement

Acute medical receiving, regular ward rounds, continuing inpatient care of cardiology patients.

Exposure to outpatient clinics in general cardiology and outpatient-based cardiology investigations such as exercise testing, tilt table tests and exercise thallium scans.

Typical Work Pattern

Full shift, early or late and hospital at night team.

Learning Opportunities

Ward-based Cardiology teaching and weekly hospital grand rounds.

Weekly formal Departmental teaching session.

Opportunities to gain practical skills including central line access, also exposure to echocardiography and temporary pacing lines.

Teaching

Mandatory FY2 teaching one full day per 4-month block.

Opportunities to be taught and to provide teaching for medical undergraduates.
