Placement Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Hospital(s) Forth Valley Royal Hospital - FVRH
Main Duties of Placement

'On-call first-on' for Labour Ward and acute admissions (Middle-Grade and/or consultant always on site).

Ward duties and ward rounds in both obstetrics and gynaecology.

Regular general and specialist clinic and theatre exposure for training.

Typical Work Pattern

1:7 'on-call'. Full shift, including night shifts.

Hospital at night team on site.

Learning Opportunities

Strong teaching ethos in the department; weekly structured training, CTG meetings and Labour Ward Forum in addition to active hospital programme.

All trainees contribute to teaching programme with opportunities to undertake and present projects during this placement.

Teaching

Mandatory FY2 teaching; 'bleep free' teaching one hour a week and O & G specialty teaching regularly as above. Informal teaching in clinics and in theatre.

Unique Selling Points

Very well supervised post in a friendly department which will provide an excellent Foundation training in the specialty of obstetrics and gynaecology.

Good preparation for a career in obstetrics and gynaecology, in any related specialty or in general practice.
