Main Duties of Placement

Ward rounds and ward work.

Assessment of new admissions.

Review of patients on regular haemodialysis.

Typical Work Pattern

Band 1b full shift rota. On-call is for General Medicine.

Learning Opportunities

Mainly ward-based.

Teaching

Protected Tuesday lunchtime and Thursday lunchtime.

Wednesday lunchtime Hospital Grand Round.

Monthly academic half day.

Unique Selling Points

Plenty of opportunities to learn practical skills for keen trainees. Opportunities to become skilled at fluid management and familiar with abnormal biochemistry. Also opportunities to be involved with decision-making around end of life care.
