Placement Community Diabetes

Main Duties of Placement

Diabetes Clinics at Clydebank Health Centre.

Support of diabetes team.

 

Typical Work Pattern

Monday - Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm.

Learning Opportunities

Consultant-led diabetes clinics.
Attendance at GP/diabetes community nurse clinics and visits.
Weekly diabetes MDT.
Diabetes MCN meetings.
IP review visits with secondary care DSN.
Structured patient education.

Teaching

Attendance at all FY2 teaching programmes.

Unique Selling Points

This new post is a unique opportunity to learn about chronic disease management across the divide of primary and secondary care.

The trainee will spend half their time in a tertiary referral diabetes centre where they will gain knowledge and experience in diabetes complications/new diabetes therapies/type 1 diabetes/insulin pump treatment/diabetic foot ulceration treatment.

Great opportunities to perform clinical research.

Other side of post will be spent seeing patients with primary care team seeing management of type 2 diabetes in the community.
