Unique Selling Points

Glasgow Royal Infirmary has a rich and famous history.  For example it was in GRI that Joseph Lister pioneered antiseptic surgery.  This strong link to academia continues to this day with strong links to University and research work.  In 2020 Glasgow Royal Infirmary was named as one of the top 20 hospitals in the UK and the top in Scotland.  It is a large and busy hospital where you will see varied pathologies.  Sadly, it is in one of the most deprived areas in Europe, however, this will allow you to learn about the social determinants of health.  Despite being a large and busy hospital, feedback, particularly within older adult’s medicine, is that it is one of the friendliest departments that trainees have ever worked in with consultants always being approachable and supportive.

It is important to note that this description is a typical example of your placement and may be subject to change.
