Placement General Adult Psychiatry

Hospital(s) Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow
Main Duties of Placement

Two ward rounds in an acute psychiatry ward per week, one of which is multidisciplinary.

Two outpatient clinics per week, supervised by consultant.

On-call duties throughout day and out of hours, closely supervised.

Multidisciplinary meetings, home visits, attendance at tribunals and CPA meetings as appropriate.

Typical Work Pattern

Partial shift.

Cover for Stobhill psychiatry site.

Learning Opportunities

Ward- and clinic-based teaching. Multidisciplinary meetings and fortnightly journal club.


Internal and external teaching on a weekly basis, including case presentations, tutorials and journal clubs.

Unique Selling Points

Working closely with consultant throughout job. Weekly supervision long established in psychiatry. Variety of clinical cases during office hours and even more so when on call.  Expectation of close supervision by seniors.
