Placement Psychiatry of Learning Disability
Year F2

Main Duties of Placement

Outpatient clinics, home visits, Multidisciplinary meetings

The trainee will take part in their local on call rota with on call duties at Leverndale Hospital

Supervision

One hour of supervision will take place on a weekly basis. If psychiatric advice and support in relation to the East Renfrewshire Learning Disability Team is required this can be accessed via the LD psychiatry AMP rota.

Typical Work Pattern

The trainee will initially observe outpatient clinic then run their own clinic in parallel. Clinics take place on alternate Tuesday afternoons in Eastwood Health and Care Centre & Friday mornings in Barrhead Health & Care Centre.

On-call duties

Learning Opportunities

The trainee will attend the LD psychiatry West of Scotland educational programme. This includes external speakers & case/journal presentations, which the trainee will be expected to participate in. There are also regular audit meetings and the trainee will be expected to participate in these and with the audit programme.

Teaching

The trainee will be fully supported to attend/participate in Foundation education programme.

An exciting opportunity to work within a community setting and gain excellent experience within this field.  Patients will have a range of mental health diagnoses, behavioural presentations and complex needs. You will have the opportunity to assess and manage newly referred patients and those already under regular review, including working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues.
