Type of practice

Rural deprived practice with high levels of chronic disease. Based in an 'area centre' which also houses police, social work, housing, dentist and the extended primary health care team.

 

List Size: 3600

 

Number of partners and outside interests:

5 Partners (WTE 3.25). Dr Hugh Brown is primary care cancer lead and Dr Axel Winkler is a PBSG facilitator.

 

Any interesting features of the practice:

High levels of chronic disease and social deprivation lead to experience in managing complex cases, also large number of walk-in and call-out emergencies. Full contraception/sexual health, minor surgery and minor injury services. Anticoagulation near patient testing and participation in tele-health pilot. Close working with palliative care, social work and child protection services.

 

Educational opportunities: 

Weekly practice meetings covering  clinical, buisness and multidisciplinary topics. Participation in local day release programme.
