Type of Practice
We are a friendly , enthusiastic practice, localted in Alexandria , near Loch Lomond. Our population is largely urban, with high levels of deprivation, but our catchment area extends to some more rural areas within Loch Lomond National Park. We operate from brand new purpose built premises.
List size 9300
Partners and Interests
We currently have 8 partners, all of whom take part in the teaching programme. Whilst general practice is our main focus , partners outside interests include Healthcare of the Elderly, Addictions, and Integrated Care Medicine.
Interesting Features of the Practice.
We are a 17c PMS practice; this allows us to focus less on QOF related issues, and turn our attention to projects that better meet the needs of our patient group. This has led to us developing services for chronic pain, Hepatitis C and also developing a multidisciplinary Child Protection pilot.
We also have an established nurse triage service, as well as a practice pharmacist employed directly by the practice
Educational Opportunities
You will be supported by all the partners during your training, and will have protected tutorial and study time .We also have protected time once a week for our Clinical Forum, where the team meet to discuss a variety of clinical issues. You will also be able to attend the fortnightly day release programme. There is a positive educational culture within the practice, with medical student teaching and the retainer programme being supported.
Advantages and Opportunities
The practice offers a relaxed supportive environment in which to complete your training. As a 17 c practice we can offer a different perspective on how general practice can be made to work for the benefit of patients as well as staff. You will also have the opportunity to work in award winning premises, close to the wonderful scenery of Loch Lomond National Park, yet only a 30 minute drive from Glasgow
