Riverview Medical Centre has has its own purpose built premises with a private car park. It’s an easy commute against the traffic, 20-25mins from the West End of Glasgow and 20mins from the South Side. We have a Morrisons on the doorstep for any chocolate emergencies!
We have 4 GPs, 1 practice nurse, a health care assistant, a practice manager, a secretary and 6 reception staff working permanently in the practice. We are joined by a phlebotomist, a physiotherapist who sees adults with any musculoskeletal problems, a support pharmacist and pharmacy technician who help with our prescribing and a community link worker who is skilled in “social prescribing”.
Our local hospital is the RAH in Paisley for adults and maternity services. We refer into the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow for paediatrics and into the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for certain conditions. Dykebar Hospital and its outlying clinics care for our patients with mental health, drug and alcohol problems. St Vincent’s Hospice lies within our practice area and we have excellent links with the staff there who help us to care for patients with palliative needs.
Our practice area includes Johnstone and the surrounding area – this includes some patients in Linwood, Bridge of Weir, Kilbarchan and Howwood. We have just over 5500 patients registered with the practice and many of our families have been with us for generations.
We are a friendly, well organised and enthusiastic team and the whole practice is involved in looking after our trainees. Teaching is provided by all members of staff. We have coffee time each morning at 10.30, a weekly practice meeting and regular monthly meetings with our attached District Nurses, Palliative Care Nurses and Health Visitor. Trainees are welcome at all of these meetings.
We welcome informal enquiries.
Please have a look at our website www.riverviewmedicalcentre.com for more detailed information about the practice. We look forward to welcoming you to our surgery for your training.
