Type of Practice

We are a friendly, enthusiastic, long established training practice and enjoy welcoming GPSTs and FY2s into our team. Four of the

partners are qualified to train and a fifth is embarking on her studies to become a trainer. Both the district nursing team and

the health visitor team are based in our new purpose built building, the midwives run practice based ante natal clinics twice

weekly. There is regular close contact with the McMillan nursing service, and both clinical pharmacist and counselor visit each

week.  All members of extended primary care team are involved in the teaching and training of GPTSs.

Partners

Having been a five partner practice for many years we are delighted to welcome in spring 2012 our new sixth partner. There are three male partners, two of whom are full time, and three female partners, one full time and two part-time in the practice.
Both Dr Hodgson and Dr McMillan have been involved in post graduate medical education for many years and have a particular interest in doctors' consultation skills. Dr Rea has a special interest in diabetes

Features

We have three practice nurses who run clinics in asthma, copd, diabetes, IHD and epilepsy, together with their general nursing duties.
Our appointment system is mainly on the day. The practice is fully computerized using Emis software system. We achieve highly in QOF, carry out minor surgery procedures and offer full contraceptive service including insertion of IUCD and implants.
There are fortnightly primary care team meetings, attended by all disciplines including social work and CPN, and monthly practice business meetings. GPSTs are invited to all meetings.
The practice runs regular educational meetings, to which all clinical staff are welcomed.
